Frequently Asked Questions for Parents
Does my child need a lift ticket for ski school?
No lift ticket is required during the ski school lesson. Groups use the lift from the ski school’s designated entrance. If the child continues skiing after the lesson, a lift ticket is needed (note: no ticket is required for the children’s rope lift). We recommend a season pass for enthusiastic skiers.
What should my child bring to the lesson?
Children need weather-appropriate clothing, skis, boots, and a helmet (or snowboard boots, snowboard, and helmet for snowboard lessons). Poles are recommended for VauhtiWerneri and RataWerneri groups but are not mandatory. Please write your child’s name on their helmet (tape or sticker).
How should my child dress for ski school?
Avoid long scarves and loose clothing that can get caught in lifts. Do not dress your child in slippery clothing, such as rain pants. A child sliding uncontrollably on the slope is a safety risk. Gloves should provide good grip on lift handles; leather gloves or mittens are recommended. Lessons take place in all weather; there is no minimum temperature.
Where does the group meet at the start of the lesson?
Groups meet at the bottom of the slope. Groups starting on the children’s slope meet near the children’s lift, while groups starting on the main slope meet near the rope lift.
Where does the ski school lesson end?
Lessons end at the same place where they started. Pick up your child immediately after the lesson if they are not yet independent on the slopes or outside the ski area.
Do I need to notify if my child is absent?
No notification is needed for a single missed lesson. For multiple weeks of absence, please notify ski school via email: [email protected]
I want to change my child’s ski school group
After the course is paid for or teaching has begun, all group changes must be arranged through the ski school office via email: [email protected]
Can I leave the slope during my child’s ski school lesson?
During lessons, instructors are responsible for the children. Ensure the instructor sees your child arrive. Instructors focus on teaching, and children often concentrate better when parents are not in sight. Parents may observe from the slope café. For children under 5, we ask parents to stay on the slope to assist if needed (e.g., bathroom breaks).
Make-up lessons for 10-week ski school courses
We try to provide make-up lessons for students who missed their regular lesson due to illness (priority given to those with a doctor’s note). Students can attend make-up lessons during the season and at the end of the season (weather permitting). Make-up lesson schedules are available on our website under the dedicated tab.
